Google Ads for moving companies, steered by booked moves
Someone searching for a moving company has to move. That is why Google is usually the first channel for a moving company. But the account has to learn the difference between a form and a booked move.

Scaling through Meta and Google Ads, and a sales and quoting process that is now 64% automated.

Google Ads catches the customer who already has to move
Google Ads for a moving company is about being at the top when someone in your area searches for a moving company, and about teaching the account which searches end as booked moves. As a Danish performance agency, we build search campaigns by area and search intent and judge the account on booked moves, not on forms. For CPH Flyt we ran targeted Google Ads campaigns alongside local Meta Ads in Copenhagen and the surrounding area, on a conversion-optimised website.
It is the most direct channel a moving company has. Nobody searches for “flyttefirma københavn” (moving company Copenhagen) for fun. On the other hand, you are not the only one bidding on those searches. Structure and measurement decide who gets the most out of the click.
The keywords show how close the customer is to booking
“Flyttefirma” is the big term, but it is one keyword, not the whole market. Beneath it sit town names, services and price questions, and each group says something different about the customer.
| Search term | Monthly searches | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| flyttefirma (moving company) | 6,400 | Broad intent, many kinds of customer |
| flyttefirma københavn | 1,400 | Local and close to a quote |
| flyttemand (removal man) | 1,100 | Help with the move itself |
| flyttefirma priser (prices) | 700 | Checking the price |
| hvad koster et flyttefirma | 250 | Early: what does it cost? |

Search is local. After the big cities comes a long list of smaller town names, each with its own searches. So we build the campaigns around the area you actually serve, and let the ad and the landing page name the town. A click from a customer you cannot move is paid for and wasted.
Price questions deserve their own answer. People who search for “flyttefirma priser” want to know what it costs before they talk to anyone. A landing page that explains what the price depends on, and makes it easy to get a quote, answers the search. A home page does not.
A moving company's account is built by area, intent and bookings
The setup follows the way we run Google Ads for every client: tight structures by search intent, search terms read by a human every week, and bids that follow what actually makes money. For a moving company it looks like this.
- 01Area and services
We map where your vans drive and what you offer. That decides the keywords, the geography and what the ads may promise.
- 02Campaigns by intent
Broad searches, town names and price questions each get their own campaign, so budget and bids can be managed separately.
- 03Ad and landing page
The ad repeats the town and answers what was searched for. The landing page makes it easy to ask for a quote on a phone.
- 04Bookings as the goal
We recommend importing the bookings from your CRM into Google Ads, so the account learns which searches become moves.
- 05Search terms every week
We read the search terms and add negative keywords every week. Moving boxes, jobs and van hire rarely belong in the account.
- 06Budget by bookings
The budget follows the cost per booked move. If spend rises faster than bookings, we hold back.
Your own company name belongs in the account too. If others bid on it, we protect it, so customers who are already looking for you do not end up somewhere else. Performance Max can add to the search campaigns, but only once the account measures on bookings. Without that signal it finds cheap forms, not moves.
A submitted form is not a booked move
A move is not bought in a basket. It is talked through on the phone, perhaps surveyed, priced and only then booked. All of that happens outside the ad account. If Google is only told that a form was sent, it optimises towards the cheapest form, not towards the move that actually happened.
That is why we recommend sending the bookings back to the account from your CRM, with a value attached. Google Ads makes this possible with offline conversion import. It requires the click ID to be stored on the enquiry, and the booking to be findable afterwards. Read how we approach measurement on our Tracking & Data page.
- Cost per booked move, not cost per lead
- Share of enquiries that get a quote
- Share of quotes that get booked
- Search terms that bring clicks but never bookings
- Visibility on your own town names
Searches swing less over the year than you might think
Moves have a season, but on Google it is flatter than many plan for. Over the last twelve months, December 2025 was the lowest month for “flyttefirma” with 5,690 searches and July 2026 the highest with 7,135 (Ahrefs, Denmark, October 2026). The gap between bottom and top is manageable.
Winter is not dead, and summer is not a free pass. We let the budget follow the cost per booked move month by month instead of the calendar. We turn it up when your capacity can take it, and hold back when the calendar is full.
CPH Flyt shows that Google Ads does not carry the growth alone
At CPH Flyt, the 6,101+ qualified leads came from targeted Google Ads and local Meta Ads in Copenhagen and the surrounding area, on a conversion-optimised website. The case does not split that figure by channel, and neither do we.

The 12× more moves a month came from something else: automating quotes, booking and invoicing. The ads brought in the enquiries. The automation made it possible to take them. Read the whole CPH Flyt case.
Google Ads is not the first step if the quote is the bottleneck
There are situations where we advise against turning up Google Ads. If quotes are still made by hand and a whole working day passes before the customer gets an answer, you are just buying a longer queue. If the calendar is full in season, you pay for customers you have to turn away. And if nobody can see which enquiries were booked, the account is flying blind.
In those cases we start somewhere else: measurement, a faster quoting process or automating quotes and booking. Once Google Ads is running, Meta Ads is often the next step.
Tell us about your area, your quoting process and what the account measures today. We tell you what we would do first, even if the answer is not more ads.
Book a call30 minutes. We look at your account and your numbers and tell you honestly what we would do.
Book a callWhat we are often asked.
You bid on the searches your customers use, such as “flyttefirma” and your town names, and pay when someone clicks the ad. How high you appear depends on your bid and on how well the ad and the page match the search. The account learns from the conversions you send it, so it needs to be told about bookings, not just forms.
The cost per click is set in an auction and depends on keywords, area and how many others are bidding. That is why there is no figure here. The number that matters is the cost per booked move, set against what a move earns you.
Google Ads can give you a place at the top straight away, for as long as you pay for the clicks. SEO is the work of being found without paying per click, and it takes longer to build. For a moving company, Google Ads is usually the fastest route to enquiries from people who are searching.
Usually yes, if others bid on it. Customers searching for your name are the warmest you have, and a competitor at the top of the results for your name can take them. If nobody else bids, we assess whether it is needed.
Usually because the account optimises towards forms rather than bookings, so it finds the people who are cheapest to get to fill in a form. Other causes are search terms that do not match your services, and an area wider than the one you serve. The fix is measurement on bookings and a weekly review of the search terms.
Ask what the agency measures, and whether it can show a case from the moving industry. An agency that reports cost per lead without knowing your bookings is optimising for the wrong thing. Ask too who works in the account day to day. Our case is CPH Flyt, where we ran Google Ads and Meta Ads and automated quotes, booking and invoicing.
